Rome was a huge let down and very overrated.

How do people like this place?

Trashy, graffiti filled, homeless, smelly, and expensive bland food.

It's like New Orleans but at least they have some food you can taste.

The Colosseum was awesome but I found most of Rome to be the most disgusting and disappointing place I've ever traveled.

I'm very glad we spent most of our time in other parts of Italy.

Do yourself a favor, and skip Rome or make it a 1 day stop to see the Colosseum and Roman Forum.

Update I retract my skip Rome statement. See the Basilica di San Pietro; that delivered far beyond even my highest expectations.

The rest I stand by.
