Caught up with the mainline content - appreciation and feeling of void
I just finished Ten Thousand Plums, which thus ended the great habit of devouring "just another Usagi chapter before going to bed" I had in the last 3 months.
I'm not even sure why I waited so long to finally read the whole Usagi Yojimbo saga. As a kid back in the early 90s, I played the video game version on my uncle's Commodore 64. As a teenager, I read the local translation of the first two volumes. This April I saw a couple of volumes on the shelves in my kenjutsu dojo's library - that was the spark I needed. Went all in, got a full collection, started to read. I find it hard to recall the last time I was so excited about a written form of media - it was the highlight of the day every evening when I read a few chapters. The whole story and its characters are on next level, this became my favorite comic of all time in such a short timespan. I will definitely reread everything multiple times when my memories about the main story became a bit more hazier, but at the moment, I just feel a bit empty and not sure what I will read today.
The only Usagi iteration that I don't have is the Kaito 84 one - the setting looks cool, but I would have preferred a mainline continuation this year compared to a spin-off. Hopefull, next year there will be a new traditional Usagi storyline.
