Trouble with trailer coupler

I have been having years of trouble connecting and disconnecting my boat trailer and it’s preventing me from enjoying my speedboat. I have a 1999 Searay 185 open bow speedboat with 4.3 liter I/O with single axel trailer. I’ve have launch the boat every time I use it. Lately it’s Russian roulette to see if I can connect or disconnect the trailer and couldn’t use this last holiday weekend. One day I couldn’t mount on hitch as coupler wouldn’t open next time I tried it went on super easy. Same with disconnecting. I live the heck out of ball and hitch and still struggle.

Anyone else have these problems? I’m thinking of getting a new hitch put on. Thoughts?
