Which L&G funds should I invest my pension into? What factors should I consider in my decision?
I have a workplace L&G pension. All of my pension is currently in 2060 - 2065 Target Date Fund 3, which has a "growth rate" of 3.4% - in quotation marks because I'm not quite sure how this is worked out.
I earn £150k and my current contributions total 18%. Ideally, I'd like to up it to 20% but I'm in the process of buying a house so figured I'd wait while that is sorted out.
My pension assumes I'm going to retire at 65. I'd like to retire earlier than that (but I understand that the nearer you are to retirement the less risky your pension becomes, so I don't want to put it in a different, less risky fund which could earn me less money over time). I guess I assume I will retire in 20-25 years time.
My place of work has dealing rules which mean I can't really invest in specific stocks - but I don't think this will matter for choosing which funds I put my pension into?
Should I be considering other funds? What sort of % split across different funds should I go for? Are there any you think I should specifically look at?
I'm pretty new to thinking about my pension beyond just contributing each month. I think I just want to make sure it's working as hard for me as it can.
Would be grateful for any advice! If this is a dumb question, or if there are other questions I should be asking, please do let me know!
