Anyone from Central Asia with 11 years of school + Foundation got direct admission to Germany?

Application

Hi everyone,

I’m from Tajikistan and I’m currently trying to understand my eligibility for Bachelor admission in Germany. I’ve been researching this for days and honestly I’m still confused because every source says something slightly different.

My situation:

  • I completed 11 years of secondary school in Tajikistan in 2025 and graduated with excellent grades.
  • After that, I enrolled in a 1-year Foundation in Business program at MAHSA University in Malaysia.
  • I successfully completed two semesters and passed the program with a CGPA of 2.32.
  • My goal is to apply for English-taught Bachelor programs in Business/Economics at German public universities or FHs.

From my understanding:

  • Germany usually expects 12–13 years equivalent to the Abitur,
  • and many Central Asian countries only have an 11-year school system.
  • But I also read that additional higher education or a Foundation year can sometimes compensate for the missing school year.

So technically:
11 years of school + 1 year Foundation = 12 years of study overall.

That’s where my confusion starts.

I contacted ZAB/anabin, but they basically told me that universities decide independently and that anabin is only a recommendation database. So now I’m trying to understand how this works in real situations for international students.

My main question is:

Has anyone from Tajikistan, Uzbekistan, Kyrgyzstan, Kazakhstan, or another country with an 11-year school system successfully received:

  • direct admission,
  • subject-restricted admission, or
  • Studienkolleg admission

after completing a Foundation program abroad?

Did the Foundation actually help in your case?

I’d really appreciate hearing real experiences because application deadlines are getting close and I’m trying to understand whether I should:

  • apply directly to universities,
  • focus on Studienkolleg,
  • or both.

Thanks a lot to everyone who replies.
