Genital HSV-1 or HSV-2
I contracted genital herpes about seven months ago. During my first outbreak, there were clusters of small blisters, but they didn't hurt or itch; they just appeared and then vanished after about two weeks. I drink and smoke quite a bit, and after the blisters cleared up, I went back to my normal routine. A month later, I had another outbreak—this time with fewer blisters, but still painless. I then started a daily course of acyclovir. I’ve had about two more outbreaks—four in total. I suspect it’s HSV-2, but I see so many people complaining that HSV-2 outbreaks are extremely painful (especially the first one) that I’ve started to have doubts.
