Things that make perfect sense in India... until you think about them

:discuss: Discussion

India is the only place where you can pee in public, but can't kiss in public

In India, we don't talk to strangers, but we marry one.

We spend years telling children not to question elders, then expect them to become innovative adults.

We bargain for 20 rupees with a street vendor, but never question an overpriced luxury store.

We worship goddesses, but many daughters still have to fight for equal freedom.

We expect students to memorize everything, then ask why nobody thinks creatively.

We tell guests to eat more, then judge them for gaining weight.

We say family comes first, but rarely tell our own family how we actually feel.

We celebrate diversity, but still ask people what caste or religion they belong to.

We expect privacy from others, but think nothing of asking someone's salary, age, or marriage plans.

We tell young people to be independent, but expect them to seek permission for every major life decision.

We take pride in "adjusting" to every problem, instead of fixing the problem itself.
