A movie I saw only once on TV

Hi, I am looking for a movie I saw decades ago on late night TV. I can not remember the cast. What I remember from the plot: A young soldier is transferred to a unit in West Berlin. There he meets his old instructor again. Together they do covered excursions into the GDR by car. They get into pursuits with the Stasi and VoPos. At one point in the movie, there is an accident on a russian base in the GDR, where the fuel of an ICBM explodes and incinerates a good part of the base. The young soldier tries to get to the bottom of that accident and takes a motobike to ride to that base. He is discovered and chased by a tank and has to do some crazy driving/stunts to get away. One specific scene I remember: on their first drive together, the young soldier takes of his nightvision goggles and continues to drive without them and his instructor gives him an approving nod. The movie has to be from the 80s or perhaps 90s.

Does anybody know which movie that could be?

I never saw it anywhere again.
