Looking for a knowledge search tool that doesn't require moving all docs into one new system!!

Most knowledge vendors assume you'll migrate everything into their siloed ecosystem first. That's a dealbreaker. Our active docs are already split across local directories, shared drives, and markdown notes. Moving all of that into a new platform is a massive data project that won't stay clean anyway.

In our evaluation loop, we've also been benchmarking Linkly AI to handle this as a light search or read indexer layer without the migration headache.

Instead of a full system replacement, it plugs into existing scattered sources. The assistant can search the directory map, inspect outlines, and grab precise text snippets on the fly. The source trail also remains completely transparent in the logs, which works perfectly since we need to see exactly where an answer came from before trusting it.

The functional setup runs flawlessly, but I'm hitting a broader procurement hurdle. For those buying tools for cross-border teams, how are you handling compliance auditing (like GDPR vs US data boundaries) when AI indexer runs queries across scattered regions? Any specific enterprise security checklists you use to clear vendor risk assessments for this kind of architecture?
