How to get prescriptions? What are the steps? Does one just ask or tests need to be done?

How does one get a script/ prescription for medicine?

A year ago I developed really bad aniexty and was given alprazolam from one of the doctors when I had an episode. I had to take 1mgx3 a day for a month. It worked well that I was taking 0.5mg and not on consecutive days. But eventually it ran out and I don't have the same medical aid scheme as before. I was doing okay for some time after use but again the aniexty and panic attacks are back.I have tried all over the counter meds from dischem and clicks but nothing works. I even tried going to public hospitals but has been so helpess. I was told muiltiple to wait for a psychologist to evaluate me but they never call. So just want advice on how I can go about it. I live in Pretoria East . Please advise thanks.
