I hate how The Mighty Eagle is a joke now in general (starting from the first movie)

Back when I first played Angry Birds (the first game) as a kid in the early 2010s, I had a blast. I think that was one of the first games I ever played. I loved the birds abilities and would keep speculating about new birds.

Then I learnt about the Mighty Eagle. He felt so powerful, so legendary, so fearful, so cool. Getting him felt like a power fantasy. And according to his introduction ad, he wasn't exactly an ally of the birds. He was that figure you don't want to mess with, and have to bribe into helping you (hence the sardine cans you launch, they're his compensation).

And then one day in 2016, as I was playing Angry Birds Seasons, I saw an ad of the movie with Red's design and I was mindblown. I would tell everyone at school about it. Then I finally saw the movie. Not as bad as people say, except for a few things : the Mighty Eagle, just NO. THAT AIN'T MY GOAT, THAT'S AN ENTIRELY DIFFERENT CHARACTER, A RETIRED GROSS PERVERTED LOSER WITH NO AURA. I KNOW THE OLD ONE WASN'T A HERO, BUT OUT ALL CHARACTERISATIONS YOU COULD'VE MADE, THIS, ROVIO?? And they somehow managed to make him a worse person in the sequel.

That's a complaint I have about the movies: they're not terrible, or anything, but I think I'm not exaggerating when I say they're one of the worst thing to happen to the franchise, especially with Rovio's hyper fixation on them.

(Another minor but unrelated thing, none of my childhood ships are canon😭. I used to ship Red with Stella, and Bomb with Matilda)
