Feeling foolish over a strong emotional reaction

Advice Wanted

Hey fellow BP homies. Over the last week or so I’ve been under tremendous stress, and have started to feel myself elevating into hypomania/a mixed episode. Things like insomnia/not needing as much sleep, disorganized and racing thoughts, increased impulsivity, and turning to substances more as a way to cope are all telltale signs for me. I’ve been stable for two years so it’s hard not to feel terrified.

Something so silly happened where I posted a sincere vent and request for commiseration on a subreddit that I really enjoy lurking on, got a lot of sweet responses and felt internet camaraderie for the first time in a long time (dopamine rush). Then a moderator banned me for not following a pretty arbitrary rule (no posting selfies on Sunday after a certain time, but I’m in a different time zone) and it made me feel so dejected and also somehow personally attacked?

Like how absurd to care about one stranger? It seriously kept me ruminating for FAR too long. I did snap myself out of it eventually, but I have woken up after like 4 hours of sleep (I will definitely fall back asleep before starting my day though), I think bc my mood and nervous system are so dysregulated right now. And I just wanna feel safe/confident to post on the internet anonymously :(

A lil more context here as far as my current treatment plan-I am actually trying to get in with my doctor to talk about trying a new medication as I’m currently only on lamotrigine as monotherapy. But he’s been on leave for a while and the office is very vague on when he’ll return. We talked about caplyta and I’ve done a lot of research and feel hopeful to try it, but I’ve also never been on an antipsychotic. Historically I tend to experience strong negative side effects on any psych med I’ve tried, but it levels out after a couple weeks to a month.

What kind of things do y’all do to handle increased emotional intensity/sensitivity?
