Why are expectations so different towards different sex?

So I read this recent post about, why you stop having sex with your partner.
One woman pointed out, that she lost a job, and he asked her to pay 50/50 while she still spends on her clothes etc. I don’t know how life is in USA but living in eastern europe especially as a student, making minimum wage, paying for the other person, would just mean 50% less food per person on the table.
And its a turn off to not have sex?
I guess if the male partner lost his job and female partner covered bills it would still be a turn off?
Ain’t yall fighting for equality? Because this seems inequal as fuck.
