Morning Dove Nest :( Help!

I think our mourning dove nest got attacked last night at 1am. I don’t know what got to it- heard a commotion (her frantically fluttering her wings and loud noises) and by the time I rushed over, mom was gone and 2 eggs that hatched a week ago were just sitting there. She has never made any noise or left her eggs so I know it’s not good. I didn’t sleep all night and saw dad come back at 5:30am and he is now sitting on eggs. Some googling seems to state that the eggs are no longer viable (I’m in CA but nights are still very chilly) and I’m just heartbroken for the dad. Is there anything I should do? Nature is so brutal 😭
