Season 5 is a struggle.

As a major Gotham fan, Season 5 falls short of its earlier seasons. While the show initially laid the groundwork for the future rather than bombarding viewers with Easter eggs, I appreciated the subtle Batman lore and mythos in the earlier seasons. These seasons have a clear beginning middle and end, yet Season 5 feels more like a setup than a satisfying payoff. We hardly get anything of note for the ‘No Man’s Land’ arc we forget it in one or two episodes to focus on things that could’ve been resolved in seasons before.

For me, the payoff is the rushed 11-episode season arc for a single flash-forward episode that resembles a low-budget movie rather than a fully realised episode.
