Running laptop in car... Will it work?

I'm going on a trip and would like to play Steam games on my laptop in the car. The thing is, my laptop NEEDS to be plugged in, because the battery is essentially dead (it's an OLD Asus Predator gaming laptop). Otherwise it works perfect. So I'm on Amazon looking at car power inverters (plug laptop into inverter and inverter into car port). Will this work?
