Advice before First Casual Playthrough
So first thing first. The game is relatively new. I usually wait half a year or a full year before playing a game, until it’s been fixed and “patched up” a bit. But with *Esoteric Ebb*, the genre really appeals to me. Would you recommend that I wait a few more months for the best experience, or is it already very polished?
How does the game handle bad dice rolls? If I keep rolling poorly, will that knock me out of important quests? Unfortunately, I’m constantly unlucky with the RNG in video games. Disco Elysium handled that pretty well—you still got an interesting story that didn’t punish you for your bad luck. You didn’t even want to savescum.
Also, I don’t like playing perfect builds—I prefer to play based on what I feel like doing narratively. How punishing is the game if you play suboptimal characters or don’t make good meta-game decisions?
Do you have any other general spoiler-free tips? What should I watch out for? What might ruin the playthrough because it isn’t explained well or because you don’t know about it on your first playthrough? It’s quite possible I won’t have time for a second playthrough, so I want to get as much entertainment and fun out of the first one as possible.
