The headless man in a suit

As a kid I would see a headless man in a suit walk past my bedroom door towards my parents room every night, the colour of the suit would change and sometimes he would be holding a briefcase. I vividly remember being awake during this but considering this was going on from the ages of maybe 5-7 there’s a very good chance I could’ve been asleep. I’ve spoken to very few people about this including my mother but no one has ever had an explanation for it so I was wondering if anyone here could maybe explain it? I always put it down to the fact my dad worked late and I missed him as he would get home after my bedtime (which was quite early as i was really young) but the suit and briefcase didn’t make sense as he works in construction. Any explanations or theories are welcome, I was just wondering if anyone has had a similar experience or could explain this to me.
