Report: Sara Rodriguez Has History Of Corporate PAC Donations
Milwaukee Journal Sentinel -
- Lt. Gov. Sara Rodriguez is pledging to voters she won't take "any corporate PAC money," but campaign finance records show the Democratic candidate for governor has in recent years received a handful of contributions from such groups and associations that have corporate members.
Rodriguez also has received donations before entering the governor's race from the PACs of WEC Energy Group, which owns We Energies, the State Farm Federal PAC and a donation from the PAC tied to engineering firm HNTB Holdings Ltd.
Rodriguez was responding to an audience member asking about her campaign donations from We Energies at a time when energy rates were rising.
"I have consistently made decisions based on what's right for Wisconsin, and not about anybody's powerful interests. This campaign has not taken any corporate PAC money, and we're continuing not to do that," Rodriguez said.
"And I would say, look at what I voted for, and look at what I've done as lieutenant governor, as well as being within the Assembly, and I think you can see how I'm going to fight for every Wisconsinite."
