Mom gave chance to a fresher, surprised by the results
My mom works in a company that is relatively new but not a startup ,mid sized, not related to tech that much.
Recently one of their best employees in middle management got a nice offer and left.
In the lower level were employees who did work from home and not interested to take the position as it was largely offline.
They wanted someone competent to onboard but her higher level management are kind of penny pinchers and were not willing to offer more than certain salary and she was told find someone who is willing to work within this price range and she tried everywhere but obviously could find no one.
So finally she desperately went on linkedin and posted and one twenty three year old fresher wrote interested, desparate for atleast someone to fill in that position my mom took his interview and asked him is he familiar with the tools they use and he said 'Maam I am not familiar honestly but I will train myself immediately.'
My mom a little bit reluctant called him again for interview in office and finally decided to take him, everyone laughed a bit telling her aap apna kaam badha rahi ho itne chhote bachche ko lekar. Even her higher level management was a bit against it but my mom argued back that the kind of salary that was being offered no person with experience will want to join.
But he ultimately joined and my mom told me he surprised everyone,he picked up the tools in two days true to his word and in two months he actually was doing better in that position than his predecessor who had left handling the work from home employees better.
My mom said that maybe i took him out of desperation but he did prove his calibur, somewhere she secretly said she knows he is young and their company is small and he will most probably leave but a guy with his calibur deserves to be in a better company and she will wholeheartedly support if he leaves.
She said employers should leave the prejudice they have against freshers.
