Hifz Tip: Mistakes made early in Hifz can stay with you for years
One mistake I made as a beginner was memorizing before fixing my pronunciation.
At the time, I used to confuse letters like:
ص / ث / س
ز / ذ / ظ
ط / ت
ق / ك
Today, I can pronounce them correctly, alhamdulillah.
But whenever I recite Juz 'Amma or Tabarak, I still catch myself hesitating:
"Wait... is this ث or س?"
My brain memorized both versions.
That's why I encourage beginners to work with a teacher, even if it's only once in a while. And when you're revising on your own, try to listen to reciters known for their Tajwid, such as Al-Husary, Al-Hudhayfi, or Al-Minshawi.
A small pronunciation mistake repeated hundreds of times becomes much harder to correct later.
Take your time.
A few extra weeks spent building a solid foundation can save you years of correcting old habits.
May Allah make our recitation correct and our Hifz firm.
