Thoughts or Insights on the Meaning of the Name Pearl Jam

As far as I know, they have never said what the name means.

There was the Grandma Pearl's Trippy Jam story but that seemed to be debunked almost immediately.

Anyone heard any interviews of the band members talking about the name and revealing a meaning?

In the absence of a true story, I just gotta go with my gut and think it is an innuendo ;)

Jamming on a pearl sounds like something a generous lover might do.

And these are the guys who had named their previous band Mother Love Bone. So from that lens, Pearl Jam is a real step up.

I have no actual evidence just intuition.

Any other theories out there?
