He made my pay for my birthday lunch
I really just want to vent. I'm leaving him this week and he doesn't know it. I really wanted to leave before my birthday so this type of stuff wouldn't have happened but my apartment got delayed.
Anyways, yesterday he wanted to go out for lunch. I wasn't really in the mood since I've been having stomach issues so he kept saying "its for your birthday". He picked the restaurant, something more pricey and upscale. We got there and he ordered a lot more than me, spending about 3x more than I did. When the bill came he left for the bathroom without putting his card down. I waited for a minute seeing if he would come back but then I saw him hovering in the other part of the restaurant. I tried waving for him to come back but he pretended like he didn't see me. Only when I put my card down and the waiter came to get it did he come back to the table.
He does this a whenever he implies he'll pay for something, I don't even know why I bothered going out. We're supposed split going out 50/50 and we put it on my card to keep track, but I thought he would at least cover my birthday. I've also noticed he always has to spend more than me wherever we go, as if he wants to "make it out ahead" on the whole 50/50 split thing. If I somehow managed to order something more expensive than him, he'll order something to go or a drink (he never drinks) just so he's in the lead. He's mentioned before that whenever someone treats him to something he likes getting the most expensive thing, and I guess that carries over. He once tried ordering at $1200 steak at a steak house because I was paying for his birthday dinner, but I was able to shoot that down. This isn't really even about finances for him, we both have pretty good jobs but his is more high end and he makes almost twice as much as me. He is just the most selfish person I've ever met. I can't wait to leave, but unfortunately he's probably not going going to help pay the bills i've already put on my card for this month after I leave so I'm stuck this.
