AITA for leaving after sending a message saying we were going?
I 18F, went clubbing with 7 of my friends
To preface, the group of us who were going made a group chat with all 8 of us to discuss the logistics of transportation. We ultimately planned on catching 2 Ubers going to two different suburbs (for the drive home). There would ultimately be 4 girls in each Uber depending on which suburb they lived in.
My other 3 friends (18F) and I arrived together. We got to the location at around 9:30. Perry went to the location earlier for dinner with a group of uni friends.
My group and I wanted to go to the club earlier than Perry and her friends, as it was established that they would take a long time. We communicated to Perry that we would be in the vicinity an hour early.
Upon arriving, we went to a local bar to kill time, where we sat for around an hour waiting for Perry. During this time, another friend (Dion) was meant to join us at the bar. She lives relatively close to the venue, so she travelled alone, which we were worried about and expressed our worry about on the group chat. The four of us were tracking her travels on Life360 now and again. We noticed that though she was initially meant to meet with us, she decided to detour and meet with Perry and Perry’s group. It was also a longer trip to meet with Perry than with us, which made us worry about her as it was late and she was walking on her own.
We entered the club at around 11:30pm, and sent a message of us doing so on the group chat. we entered earlier than Perry, as her group went to pregame at a different bar about 15 minutes away. In the club, we met up with 2 other friends (Liv & Maddie) who were part of the night plans. We danced and did our thing for a few hours until the location got very crowded and everyone was tired and ready to go home at around 1:20am. At this time, Perry and Dion had still not entered the club. (We found out once we left that they had to wait outside for about half an hour as instructed by the bouncers because they were too drunk to enter.)
By about 1:30am, our original group of 4 decided we had wanted to go home. Liv & Maddie still wanted to stay together. We messaged on the groupchat with everyone on it and specified who was leaving with who, which was the og group of 4. We also told Liv, who would be staying with Maddie, to relay the message to Perry and Dion once they met up inside the club. Before we left, 3 of us spent roughly 10 minutes trying to find Perry and Dion in the club, which we could not. We called Perry, to which there was no answer.
the four of us left to be picked up at around 1:30am. Once we arrived at home, we received messages from Perry saying things like “where are you guys” and “why isn’t anyone responding.”. Liv and Maddie replied saying that the four of us had gone home already. Perry replied saying “did they actually leave without telling us?” and saying that we were “supposed to take the uber together”. Later, we found out that Liv had not told her in real life that we had not left, but wrote it on the group chat (which we acknowledge as not ideal). We apologised and said that we thought we were basically following our original plan, as Perry was going to go home with Maddie and Dion anyway, the only one missing from the uber being one of the friends from my group of 4.
Perry said she spent about an hour looking for us (which was exaggerated, as only about 10-15 minutes was spent based on the timestamps of the messages) and that we should’ve texted her (even though we did, though she didn’t see it). We apologised and assumed it was fine.
The next week, Perry was messaging about something unrelated on the same group chat, in which I noticed she was acting a bit drier than usual. I called her and asked her if she was okay, to which she said she was actually still upset about what happened on our night out. She said that we had poor communication and essentially left her stranded (even though we knew for certain she was with Dion, Liv and Maddie, as well as Perry’s university friends).
Recently, our friend group met up for an outing, and Perry and Dion had continued making snarky comments about us not staying later to meet up with them. Further passive aggressive comments were made in a separate group chat about ensuring we made proper travel arrangements, clearly targeting us.
AITA?
