Is freeze dried raw supposed to stink?

I don't mean strong smell I mean STINK. I got a different brand to try and when I opened the bag it smelled off but I did call the company and they said it's apparently supposed to smell like that. I thought it would smell better when soaking and smell like meat but it just made it worse. Keep or toss because it smells racid to me? It stinks like crazy apparently it's from the preservatives and the process they use but it stinks
