New cat parents need help with sleep cycle please

Hello everyone, we adopted a kitten yesterday and he is a bundle of joy, very cuddly and we love him. Only problem we are facing is he let us sleep 2 hours in total last night lol. He started with sleeping on the blanket on the bed but then woke up and kept walking over our face not letting us sleep at all. We kept our doors open with litter, food, water toys outside the room and downstairs. We tried leaving him outside and shutting our door but he kept meowing and scratching the door so we left it open and he didn’t sleep nor let us sleep after that. I did some digging online and read that i can leave the kitty in the bathroom with lights on door closed with his litter food and water there and he should adapt to it but i dont know if that is going to be too cruel for the little one. Any suggestions on what to do here? For context he is a 3 month old boy and we named him skittles :)
