My ex left me but part of me still wants her back
Hi all,
Wanted to get some thoughts here. Me (27M) and my ex (23F) broke up at the beginning of April. We were a long distance relationship but she is from my state and her whole family still lives where I do. We dated for 2 and half years and our relationship was very happy for the most part, we saw each other once a month or so and made plenty of memories together (mostly was me going down to her state). We had a lot in common and were really compatible for each other. She broke up with me one random day and never really gave me a lot of closure (although i have learned this doesn't really come from a person). I kind of felt her drifting away from me and she kind of just discarded me to the side at the end. The way she handled the breakup bothers me because it was just her deciding to distance herself from me and not really give me much to work with. I think the distance was getting to us, i tried to move where she was and i just couldn't really find a job. She felt as if i wasn't trying my hardest to move down there at times and we were kind of just in different positions in life. She started a second job and is in law school, so just a busy person. Although, she kind of did it to herself. One of those "i have been thinking about this decision for 2-3 weeks and need to follow my heart on this." She never once went to me to voice her concerns or try to save our relationship. We have basically been in no contact since we broke up other then me asking for my stuff back. She dropped it off in my mailbox a few weeks back and has maintained her distance throughout the breakup. She hasn't really shown me any sign of wanting to see me again or give me a final in person moment/goodbye. Her grandfather passed away last week and it felt against my values not to reach out and send a heartfelt condolence message, her grandparents meant a lot to me and i spent time around her grandpa. She replied to me and sent a pretty warm text, which i didn't really expect. Basically the whole "Thank you so much it means a lot, i hope your family is well and i love all of them, i hope all is good." Receiving this text back was meaningful to me. Part of me has been wanting to reach out to her and see if she wants to have a talk. I have kept my dignity and self respect this whole time by not reaching out, but i feel as if i still have attachment to her and miss her. My friends have been telling me that i have been too undecided in that grey area. Maybe i need to reach out and get rejected again to truly understand our relationship is over? I know we only broke up 3 months ago but i feel like i still really am not over her. Do you think reaching out could be a good idea for me?
