London or Edinburgh books

Traveling to London and Edinburgh later this month, looking for engaging (historical fiction ideal but am open to all genres) books that will teach me about the history, context, or give me interesting tidbits or perspectives. I know very little about these places. I’m 40 years old, from the US. Thank you.
