“I’ve had enough!!”

An unsettling atmosphere filled the room.

As though to burn it all away, a furious roar like raging flames tore through the air.

“You disgrace to the Magia Vanders!!”

The owner of the voice was a Grand High Elf who stood above all others.

A young princess who commanded the reverence of every elf.

“Lady Ellenor… was it really *that* unbearable for you?”

Standing opposite her was another of the Supreme.

Possessing sky-blue hair and eyes, she too was a breathtaking beauty—the “Princess in the Inner Chambers.”

Facing **Elfaria Albis Serfort**, the **“Staff of the Ice Princess,”** **Ellenor Ljos Alf**, the **“Staff of the Holy Fairy,”** proudly made her next declaration.

“Silence! Today, we’ll settle this once and for all with a duel!!”

A personal fight between two members of the Magia Vanders—a thing that isn’t exactly unprecedented.

This is the hidden story—the truth—of **the Staff of the Holy Fairy vs. the Staff of the Ice Princess.**

The clock turns back two days.

⸻

“Lefiya.”

“Yes, Filvis?”

*Thunk.*

At the dull sound echoing from overhead, **Filvis Challia**, vice-captain of the Holy Fairy faction, looked up at the ceiling.

Right beside her, **Lefiya Viridis**, the other vice-captain of the Holy Fairy faction, continued signing document after document with smooth, practiced movements.

“The floor-thumping has started.”

“It has.”

“Lady Ellenor is calling.”

“I figured.”

“Shouldn’t we go?”

“It’s a hassle, so… Filvis, could you go instead?”

“N-no! I won’t go unless Lefiya’s with me! I’ll get emotionally unstable!”

“I’d really like you to become independent of me already.”

Sharing identical desks while working through paperwork, Filvis kicked back her chair and sprang to her feet.

Ignoring her heartfelt plea, Lefiya kept her eyes sewn to the documents on her desk and let out a sigh.

The location was the Tower’s Sixth Level—the “Forest Saint’s Mirror Realm,” the base of the Fairy Saint faction.

Specifically, it was the office assigned to the two vice-captains, Lefiya and Filvis.

“W-why would you say something like that, Lefiya…! Hah—don’t tell me… you’ve found a partner!? You’re going to marry someone—someone other than me!? N-no, you can’t! Absoooolutely not!? If you do something like that, I’ll waste away and die! I’ll die, I tell you!”

As if fulfilling a foreshadowing, Filvis’s emotions instantly became unstable.

Her raven-black hair, reaching all the way to her waist, bounced repeatedly like a crow’s wings, and before long she had thrown herself at Lefiya from the side.

Even behind the metal mask covering her eyes, it looked as though tears might spill out at any moment.

“Filvis. It’s hard to move, and your mask keeps poking my cheek, so please stop.”

“No, no, nooo\~\~ I won’t let go until you promise you’ll incinerate that partner and consign them to oblivion like a well-done white rabbit\~\~!”

Meanwhile, the Lefiya being hugged didn’t change her expression in the slightest.

Even as Filvis’s hair became tangled with her beautiful golden locks, the hand holding her quill never stopped moving, accepting it as though it were an everyday occurrence.

She had long since reached the state of simply accepting it.

Only the metal mask repeatedly tapping against her soft cheek hurt a little.

Letting out another sigh, Lefiya deftly slipped one arm free and lightly patted Filvis on the head, as though soothing her.

“It’s already hard enough taking care of both you and Lady Ellenor by myself.”

“Oh, so that’s what this is. Lady Ellenor really is troublesome.”

“Please don’t blame everything on Lady Ellenor. I’ll have you know, you’re far more work, Filvis.”

“We’re living together, after all!”

“That’s right. We’re living together because you absolutely insisted on it. By the way, the laundry I folded yesterday still wasn’t put away this morning.”

“Ugh… s-sorry, Lefiya…! I’ll do it properly next time…”

“Also, this isn’t called *living together* (*dōsei*). It’s *sharing a residence* (*dōkyo*), you know?”

“N-no! I want it to be *dōsei*! It has to be *dōsei*!”

“Honestly…”

With flawless skin, graceful figures, and voices as beautiful as the ringing of bells—though each with a different pitch—Lefiya and Filvis stood out even among elves for their exceptional beauty.

The hierarchy between them was obvious at a glance.

And although elves generally possessed a strong sense of kinship, it was rare to find two who were this close—or rather, this lacking in reserve and this overly close in personal distance.

They could only be called an unusual pair.

Perhaps because she knew she was one of those unusual people, Lefiya had no trouble treating even royalty with an easygoing familiarity.

“Anyway, Lady Elnor dumped all these documents on us, and there’s still this many left. We need to finish them quickly, so we don’t have time to indulge your whims.”

Her slender hand moved the quill without the slightest pause, approving document after document with almost magical speed.

Each parchment she finished signing floated into the air with a flick of her finger before gathering itself into a neat stack in one corner of the meticulously clean office.

Finally peeling herself away from Lefiya, Filvis gave a broad nod.

“You’re right, Lefiya. We’re not mothers taking care of our unemployed, shut-in child!”

“That said, that’s a bit too disrespectful to royalty.”

As they continued their exchange—

*Thunk. Thunk.*

More sounds echoed down from the ceiling.

“The floor-thumping’s gotten worse.”

“She’s losing patience.”

*Thunk! Thunk! Thunk-thunk-thunk!*

“She’s firing them off in rapid succession, Lefiya.”

“I’ll make you dessert later, so… please go, Filvis.”

“Ugh… Lefiya’s homemade dessert…! But still, being by myself is scary…”

*Thunk-thunk-thunk-thunk-thunk-thunk-thunk!*

“Then could you handle the paperwork instead? If you do that, I’ll go.”

“S-sorry… there are too many sections I don’t understand… I’m useless…”

“You really are no good, Filvis\~. A hopeless elf who can’t do anything without me\~. So weak♡ so weak♡ Zero life skills, zero people skills. The only thing you’ve got going for you is fighting—you garbage-tier berserker\~.”

“Aaaahhh, stop with the bratty-girl Lefiya concept\~. My brain’s turning to mush\~\~! Please don’t abandon meee\~\~\~\~”

“It’s okay\~. I love you just the way you are, Filvis.”

“Lefiyaaa\~\~!! My goddess!”

The two carried on this farce as though escaping reality.

The truly frightening part was that Lefiya had never once stopped working through the paperwork.

Then, as though the last thread of patience had finally snapped—

“Lefiyaaa! Filvis!! What are you two doing?! Get over here this instant!! Do you want to be blasted through with magic—room and all?!”

The magic tool sitting in the corner of the office suddenly shot into the air with tremendous force.
