I'm a giant Nintendo fan 🍄🧱

The idea of a Nintendo theme park is something my dreams were made of as a child - especially a Donkey Kong Country roller coaster! 🍌

Super Nintendo World opened in May of 2025 so naturally my family had a trip planned to visit Florida in Fall of 2025..

Visiting the park the year it opened was a dream of mine 🙂

In January of 2025, before Trump was inaugurated, I told my family that if things were going to go even a FRACTION as badly as I was anticipating that I wasn't going to the US.

Mom and Dad were NOT happy - they were pretty pissed but thought Blayne (me) was just being silly and this would blow over.. 🙄

My adult brothers understood, but let me be the one to lead the charge and ruin the trip lol 😅

Mom and Dad didn't fight me, but they were clearly pissed that I was about to ruin our big family trip with my whole family..

Then it was March. I said "I don't think I'm going guys, sorry" - trying to let them down slowly as the time got closer..

Then it was May and both of my parents were on the same page as me: they were not going either 🙌

Thank fuck - I didn't want them to go but I wouldn't try to stop them.

And now we look at the planned Florida trip and laugh like "whew! Can you imagine if we went!?".

Instead my wife and I traveled to Portugal in Fall of 2025 and we had an extended visit over Christmas with my whole family (Portugal was incredible! 🇵🇹🇵🇹🇵🇹)

And so I refer to if we had gone as "my personal 1936 Berlin Olympics" - an event I would have LOVED to attend at the moment... but would be ashamed to have attended if I had gone 😬

What's your personal "Visiting Germany for the 1936 Berlin Olympics"?

A concert?

A convention?

The World Cup?

The upcoming 2028 Olympics in LA?

Or maybe you DID attend your personal 1936 Olympics and now feel ashamed about it? 😔.

Let me know!

What US event would be your personal "Attending the 1936 Berlin Olympics" - an event you'd LOVE to attend at the moment.. but would be ashamed to have attended in hindsight.. 😬
