FRINGE — second dispatch
Health update: coffee and Hydralyte have become the critical components of my poorly scheduled Fringe lifestyle.
In case you missed it, here’s my first dispatch:

And here’s a second round of reviews and recommendations in case anyone is still filling gaps in their second-week marathon!
RECOMMENDED
1. GRATITUDE
My top recommendation in this batch. Oren Safdie’s locker-room drama is morally rancid and tightly written. Certainly not the easiest sit, but it is treacherous in the most compelling way.

2. OOGA CHAKA
A rambunctious Neolithic comedy about the invention of theatre. Think Flintstones energy, theatrical in-jokes, and much, much silliness.

ENJOYED
GOD SAVE THE SODOMITES
An inventive celestial tribunal in which the audience’s sins become part of the dramaturgy. The show has wit and improvisational quickness.

ASSEMBLY SÜGGESTED
A delicate queer almost-love story built around the impossible task of assembling furniture. Soft-hearted and quietly aching.

OTHER SHOWS I’VE SEEN
outside these walls, everyone is sleeping
An experimental physical piece about depression as a ritual of slowness. It has spellbinding images, though its repetitiveness eventually weighs it down.

Meat Market
A campy (at times banal) dive into queer hook-up culture. Review coming soon on NEXT.
Danse Macabre
A historically ambitious political exploration of slavery from Africa to South America.
Who? hú 狐
A sobering reflection on human responsibility toward nature in the age of AI.
