Vyvanse --> Adderall
I'm currently on 40mg of Vyvanse. I was bumped to 40mg from 20mg this month after three months of being on 20mg. I was on 30mg of **adderall** either once or twice a day about a decade ago and I know it works better for me. However, I'm scared to ask my psych about this switch because I don't want to appear to be med seeking or whatever. The reasons I have this concern is 1. The obvious stigma surrounding stimulants/the abuse potential and 2. I have a history of substance abuse (that she's very aware of and has me on other meds to manage) and I don't want it to seem like I'm just chasing a high. When I asked to be bumped up from 20mg because of the vyvanse not lasting as long as it used to, she very quickly said it wouldn't be an issue and that she'd double the dose. She was also sure to note that you can only go so high on a dose with stimulants and she doesn't want me getting to the 70mg threshold to soon and feel "stuck" on a high dose that isn't working.
---> I'm doing a lot of rambling but the point is **I wanna know how to go about asking my psych about going back to adderall (last prescribed a decade ago in another state from a different provider) from vyvanse.** Both meds work well for me and steer me from the urge to self medicate with street drugs, but I think adderall is much more effective. Am I over thinking this? Ig at the end of the day, the worst that could happen is she says no? Idk. What do you think?
