Is this worthy of a lawsuit against Privia Health?
Hello! I live in Virginia. I received this letter in the mail dated June 1st but did not receive it until last week (July 1st).
“We are writing to share important information about your IUD implant procedure performed at [An OBGYN] by [A doctor or nurse practitioner].
At the time of your visit, [An OBGYN] was affiliated with Privia Medical Group (Privia). [An OBGYN] is no longer part of Privia. Privia recently learned that some IUDs used by the practice may not have been obtained through authorized U.S. purchasing channels and, in some cases, may have been substitute products rather than the authorized Mirena or Paragard brand IUDs. This may have been the case with your IUD implant procedure. As part of our commitment to patient care and transparency, we wanted to share this information with you. If the IUD was not obtained through authorized U.S. purchasing channels, it may not perform as expected or provide the same level of effectiveness.
Our records indicate you may have received an impacted IUD affected by one of these issues. Therefore, we encourage you to consult with another Privia Medical Group OBGYN to discuss any appropriate next steps, including removal and replacement of the IUD placed by [An OBGYN] free of charge.
You can call us at [phone number] to help schedule a visit with another Privia Medical Group physician. Our dedicated nurse call line is available Monday-Friday, 8 AM to 8 PM EST. For weekend support, piease leave a voicemail and we will return your call within 24 hours.
Alternatively, you can schedule an appointment with a physician online at [link].
If you choose to transition your care to another physician outside of Privia Medical Group and need a copy of your medical records, you can request a copy by completing the form here [link]. To support your preferred physician in providing your care, please bring a copy of this letter to your next women's health visit.
We understand this letter is unexpected and may cause you concern. We remain committed to your health care and are here to support you. We have nurses available at [phone number] to answer questions and assist you with scheduling a visit to determine next steps.
Sincerely,
Privia Medical Group”
I have had my IUD for almost 2.5 years (it’s been hell but I thought it would get better). Is there anything I should do besides moving to an OBGYN outside of Privia and getting it removed/replaced?
TLDR: My OBGYN most likely gave me a faulty IUD, can I sue?
