Signed with a company that barely sponsors H-1B, now have a second offer with a strong sponsor but ~$40-50k less. What would you do?

USA Job Market

New grad on F-1 (STEM degree, so 36 months of OPT total). Signed an offer with a large media company for a forward deployed engineer role in a 1-year rotational program. Pay is great ($130k+ bonus), title and experience are exactly what I want, and the program has real conversion potential into the org.
Problem: I looked up their H-1B filing history and they filed basically ONE petition last fiscal year. So even if I crush the rotation and convert, there’s a real chance they just don’t sponsor when my STEM OPT runs out.
Meanwhile I just got a second offer from a big financial data/index company for an associate PM role. Pay is $40-50k less, but they filed 100+ H-1B petitions last year and clearly have the immigration infrastructure.
So the tradeoff is:
• Option A: better pay, better title, hotter career path, huge visa risk in year 3
• Option B: less money, more traditional role, but a realistic path to H-1B and staying in the US
I keep going back and forth. Part of me says take the better career move and bet on myself / figure out the visa later (transfer to a sponsor before OPT runs out). Part of me says the whole point of the next 3 years is to get sponsored, so why start at a company that doesn’t sponsor.
Anyone been in this spot? Especially curious to hear from people who took the “better job, worse sponsor” path and either made it work or regretted it.
