Triathlon 2 days after colposcopy
Hi everyone. New here. 35f.
Despite having the HPV vaccine, also positive for a high risk strain, not 16,18, or 45. I had a “giant” polyp removed last week which came back as CIN 3.
I have to do a colposcopy on Friday morning. It’s the only option as I’ll be away for work from the 13th-20th.
My doctor does not want to wait until late July to get this done. So Friday it is.
I am supposed to be competing in a sprint triathlon on Sunday. It’s a 600 yard(about a third of a mile) swim, a 16.2 mile bike and a 3 mile run.
From what I’m seeing online you should not be engaging in strenuous exercise or submerging in water for 24-48 hours. I asked the nurse and she said she’ll ask the doctor and that she isn’t going to tell me not to compete but that it’s questionable and I’ll likely end up bleeding more.
Has anyone had experience with this? What happens if I do the race? I’m already really bummed about this diagnosis and the idea of not being able to compete after months of training for this is honestly devastating. Thanks in advance.
