Parenting with Low Iron in Summer and Affirmations
Just want to share to any parents with low iron - you’re not alone!! Kids want to do things that take energy like throw balls around and such. I’m adjusting by finding how I can set them up with activities that get them out there.
I am telling myself that I can show them love in many ways that are within my energy level.
They still need cleaning and feeding and the house needs to be kept clean and tidy. Those things are all I can do right now while I wait for me next infusion to be scheduled and to sink in.
Timing wise I probably won’t have my energy back until fall. I’ve been through this before with infusions to know what to expect.
I’m writing this to say your care is love. It is disappointing to me to have to say no to things. I have to budget my energy like money. I have to prioritize necessary care.
I am working on what activities I can do and what I can up for them.
Just looking for any other parents who are fending off the guilt of not having the energy to do all the activities.
Here are some affirmations I came up with with my therapist:

This is temporary and the reset of what I can accomplish is necessary

I shield myself from my inner critic.
I am not alone, there are others who struggle with this as I do. (Hi! ❤️)
This is how I am right now, and I can accept it.
I find ways to like myself while I'm doing things that I have the energy for
