Lock out scenario
My most recent guests locked themselves out of my apartment. This is where I live, so given they are in my home I was not local during their visit.
My building has no full time staff, when I’ve locked myself out I’ve had to wait hours for a response from the super or crash elsewhere until my roommate would be around.
I was not available at 10am when they reached out, and by 1pm they had called a locksmith and replaced my locks. (It’s kind of wild to me they are able to do something like that). I spoke to them around 4pm and let them know even if I had been reachable, i didn’t really have a better solution.
It’s unfortunate that this happened, but I was asked if I would consider splitting the cost of the lock replacement. As two keys were provided and their lock out isn’t due to anything on my part, I’m leaning towards declining….if anything I would think I should be charging them for the inconvenience (I now have to get new keys made for my roomate and super).
Thoughts?
