Remote Marketing/Strategy Jobs in USA?

Question

Thought I'd ask some advice and maybe see my options. Ideally more from real humans than bots from what I can tell in this sub lol

I've been working as functionally the COO/CMO in a marketing agency for about 2-3 years now. I've done a lot for them by writing SOP's, drafting manuals. Overseeing SMMers and the video/photography team. They didn't have a portfolio/case study deck before I drafted it myself for them. Long story short, it's a lot of work but barely any pay (effectively 12-16 hours a day including weekends for 3K canadian a month. Yes I know this is essentially slave wage but money was tight and I didn't have any other choice). I don't come from a marketing background so I understood I had to take the experience as I go. I would say I've been pretty good at learning and applying what I've learned for actual results for the clients of agencies.

That being said, I'm wanting to look at opportunities in US. I'm Canadian and the job market here is both rough, and inconsistent (GTA area).

I've heard Upwork has kinda fallen with opportunities and that I'd need to pay to be recommended. While I do understand I gotta spend money to make money, from what I can tell it's not a feasible way for a stable income.

Is there any other way I can start expanding my services/follow leads in America that's okay with remote worker in Canada? From what I understand some companies/agencies tend to shift out work to Canada since our dollar is cheaper. Just trying to look at prospects.

Not really a resume type post - but I've really focused on the logistical/strategy/thinking side of things rather than the technical. While I have basic skills in Canva, video editing, my bread and butter has been long term/short term strategy/sales campaigns, etc. Not sure if I'm cooked or if I should focus on other parts of marketing to find better job prospects.

Any advice is helpful!
