Cops don’t do shit
This was in 2024. I was raped in 2024 by my boyfriend at the time. Shortly after being raped (like 5-8 hours) I was hospitalized for suicide.
The staff in the hospital performed a rape kit. But didn’t contact police on my instance I was like freaking the fuck out obviously. I was in the hospital for like 8 weeks.
I left, I’m feeling 2 smidgens better, I decided to report. I tried reporting it to a police officer, I went into the police station front desk asked why I’m there. I say reporting a rape. He tells me to wait. A cop comes out takes me to his desk(not even a private office) asks me to retell the events. I do. He told me he wouldn’t file this report. I mentioned the hospital did a rape kit. There’s evidence. And he just totally shut me down.
I walked away very very upset. And because both the hospital stay and the rape were so fucking traumatizing, I had completely forgotten I even tried to report it. I feel like cops shouldn’t be allowed to decide what is/isn’t reportable if it’s a crime. I was raped. He raped me. He raped me and I did everything right. He was vetted, I had a picture of his ID (idk if I even got to show the cops that), he raped me so fucking brutally I almost had to have surgery on my rectum bc of how much it was bleeding. There was evidence. That cop should have at least taken my statement. Or anything?
Why even become a cop if you’re not going to believe victims? And if you want to determine who is and isn’t a criminal do the hard work and become a judge.
Part of me wishes I would have let the medical staff report it because it probably would have been taken so much more seriously.
Sometimes I wish I was a man so I could be believed more or heard more or matter. Like to actually matter in the eyes of people who are “protecting”society must be so relieving. To know you’re getting listen to and it’s not just a quick “okay crazy” or “you seem hysterical” I just fuck my whole life.
