Watching Everyone realize Online Dating is just a Second Job [f25]
Just turned 25 last week, and I did my yearly reflections up in the silence of the mountains in my city. Lurking around on Reddit and other socials I am coming to terms with online dating being such an overrated dumpster fire lmao.
But when I think a bit deeper, I do notice (and have for years now) that my generation and even a lot of young boomers are realizing that dating online really is just... Indeed. Glass Door. LinkdIn. It's really weird. I come from a childhood surrounded by philosophy and wisdom. Growing up in nature. Really appreciating a good conversation just to have that social need enjoyed. You don't get that anymore these days. Online has made many very.. lazy. More "options" have turned into higher/unrealistic expectations.
Now it's about what? How many people you can catch in your fishing net at once? Swiping through profiles like an employer reviewing resumes. You'll pick the best person like a boss will pick the best tool for the job. Your nose will sniff out all the incompatibilities and you'll cut your losses like a poor soul being laid off. Just to be replaced next week. No matter how shiny your credentials are. Or how honest you are on your resume(how well you can lie on it). That "Sorry I don't think this is going to work out" will always feel like an email saying "Sorry, we have decided to move forward with other candidates at this time.".
