exactly what to do if your whatsapp got banned

So I got my whatsapp account banned for spam today at 2PM. I have exactly ZERO idea why that happened and it was VERY frustrating to say the least. I did a LOT of research and here’s what happened:

- I live in Europe and have been using whatsapp for 20+ years without any problem. I’m an admin of several whatsapp groups I use for promoting reasons.

I believe the reason why I got banned was a chain of coincidences:

- I had an altercation with a person who insulted me and although I did not insult him and didn’t do anything wrong he may have reported my account for whatever the reason he thought was valid.
- about 30 min later I had created two new whatsapp groups for new promotion and invited ONE person into both groups.
- after the altercation I’ve texted two people who probably hadn’t saved my number and Ive sent a screenshot of his insults to those two contacts because they know him.

Two min later my account was gone after 20 years.
I couldn’t believe it, I simply thought this was a joke.

Here’s what I’ve found out:

- It looks like for some reason the whatsapp spam detection nowadays gets triggered extremely fast. There’s no warning or penalty or whatsoever, they just close your account immediately with no prior warning. I personally believe that this is outrageous.
- this seems to happen to a LOT of people recently.
- the last sentence of the ban notice was that “chats are still on the phone” and after some profound research I believe this means it’s not a permanent but a temporary ban. In that case you have the option to appeal.
- if you do not get your account back apparently you will be removed from all your groups after 30 days including those where you’re an admin. So you will lose all your groups after 30 days.
- apparently if you’re unable to get your account back you might get it back automatically after 60 days and I’ve you had a chat backup you can reinstate your chats however only those until the ban happened will be transferred. As said in that case you will have lost your groups.

Here’s what to do to get your account back:
- STAY CALM!! In really almost every case people get their account back if they didnt do anything wrong. DONT WORRY!
- use the appeal function and write a text why you think the ban happened by mistake. Ask chatgpt or Claude what to write and give the AI all information about what happened before the ban and why you think this may have happened. Then copy paste that AI text into the appeal field.
- MOST people say they got their account back after six hours and this is exactly what happened to me. Almost exactly six hours. But if it takes longer DONT PANIC, it might take even 24 hours to five days.
- avoid anything that happened before the ban. People here say that trying to enter the new groups they created before the ban led to another ban and then they had to appeal and wait six hours again. Some people got their account banned and reinstated five times. So you might just avoid that new group and don’t click on it. Don’t create a new group, don’t text people who haven’t saved your contact etc. Just text your friend.
- additionally you can also send the same appeal text to whatsapp directly on their website under help / contact maybe this will fasten the process but I just got an automatic reply that it won’t help.

I don’t know why this happens now but I can only say: don’t panic and keep calm. In almost every case you WILL get your account back!!
