Am I tripping? Lifelong surfer considering SUPing or Foiling

Been surfing 30yrs. Lived in HI, Oz, Central Am, and traveled for surf. Worked my ass off and saved to afford a house near the beach in Virginia. Lived in it for 3yrs and the surf is so small and gutless I hardly get in the water. Outside of occasional surf trips and hurricane season I mostly lift weights and do cardio at the gym. I had 4 days off from work recently, weather was perfect, light wind, warm water, but surf was 1ft. I started looking at ocean-touring SUPs, surf SUPs, eFoils, kite Foils, gliders, prone paddle distance boards. I already have a 9ft longboard, but in knee high mush get bored of it quickly. I’ve never tried a wind sport because of all the gear and the learning curve. I have a few friends who prone foil elsewhere and it looks fun once you learn, but you still need swell. Our new surf park is a blast, but expensive. I want to find a way to get in a workout on the water and challenge myself when there’s no real surf. Any suggestions?
