A post of appreciation
24 hours after Finsbury and the post concert high is starting to turn into post concert depression so before that happens to me once again, I wanted to share my deepest appreciation to everyone who SHOWED UP yesterday at Finsbury and to the whole WA community.
Feels like I have nobody to share with except you guys because I went alone yesterday. None of my friends felt like taking the trip from Germany for the event but I couldn't pass up the opportunity. And after what went down yesterday, and the high, I feel like talking about it to them wouldn't be appreciated/understood as much.
it's been less than a year since I discovered this band and they've taken such a massive part of my heart and attention. From the early EPs to the main albums, I know the songs and lyrics by heart. I've been to see them in Berlin, at the Teenage Cancer Trust in Royal Albert Hall and yesterday at Finsbury. I watched their sets from Glasto and other festivals that are online. I own the vinyls and even got lucky enough to get my Clearing cap signed by Ellie herself after the Berlin show.
But I wanted to experience them on their home turf with a mass of people who appreciate them as much if not more. and on that front, everyone delivered. We jumped and sang along and bobbed our heads and screamed when they started playing the deep cuts. in my case, my dream was to hear Visions of a Life live and when the first notes played I went from being a close-to-40 man to a small child being given a pony for their birthday - jumping with pure joy and screaming off the top of my lungs. tears were shed while signing along to Kisses and last man on earth. I feel like Ellie teared up at White Leather.
so thankful to everyone for making this an unforgettable experience. they are the best band with the best fans and community. my love to all and until next time at the next gig.
