Hey everyone,
Doing a DSG service on my 2013 GTI (6-speed) and ran into a bit of a panic moment.

I packed blue shop towels around the filter housing to catch the oil when pulling the old filter. When I went to pull the towels out, they snagged on a bracket and flipped, dropping a few tiny flecks of black engine bay debris/dust into the housing.

I immediately stopped, wicked out the remaining fluid, and meticulously wiped down the outer channels until the metal was spotless. However, the center raised spindle hole obviously has fluid sitting in it and I couldn't see if any tiny speck fell down the middle.

I currently have the new filter in and the cap hand-tightened while it rains. I still have to crawl underneath to pull the drain plug and snorkel to dump the rest of the old fluid.

My questions:
1. Since the center spindle is raised, is it likely the grit just slid into the outer pockets I already cleaned?
2. If a microscopic speck of dust *did* fall down that center hole, will it just flush out when I pull the transmission drain plug next?
3. Am I overthinking this, or should I be genuinely worried about the mechatronic unit?
Appreciate any peace of mind or advice before I fill it back up!

Dropped a few tiny flecks of engine bay grit into DSG filter housing during service – am I cooked?
