How do 10 year olds fare?

We’re seeing an ENT soon to discuss my 10 year old getting a tonsillectomy due to recurrent strep.

In my light research about recovery from the surgery, I see 2 ends of the spectrum: it’s terrible for adults, not so terrible for kids under 7 or so.

Does anyone with a 9-12 year old have an experience they can share?
