Horror movies for an anxious but curious newbie

I’ve been wanting to make this post for years because I need recommendations for horror movies fitting a specific preference.

I don’t like anxiety inducing or claustrophobic movies. I love when movies feel ‘’investigative’’ (like The Ring or even Longlegs, not the best examples but still). I watch horror movies with the jumpscare warnings. I LOVE internet horror and deep dives/analysis. I love lore. I actually have a high tolerance for all topics, I just don’t like feeling ‘’stuck’’ or like prey. I'm a big documentary fan, I like learning about fascinating things from a distance.

I’m extremely curious but I much prefer feeling like a spectator rather than feeling fully immersed, if that makes sense.

I would be eternally grateful for ideas! Thanks in advance!
