Illuminati

Is the Illuminati “theory” real? Like that you can get rich trough them and sell you soul? And is it more something that has to do with religious beliefs or is it its own thing? I’m an atheist and I really don’t believe any type of religion but what is the illuminati tied to and what do they do and are they even real?
