Help finding stinging nettle

I am in north Michigan near traverse city and I’ve been wandering around trying to find stinging nettle to make a bowstring. I have looked and gone down many trails with no luck. I did find there was a lot of flooding in the area and that can cause the stinging nettle to be wiped out. Is there any specific place where I could find it?
