I'm the sort of chap that gets very invested in the lore of games I play, especially when they are rooted in history or alternate history. I especially like to play with heraldry and insignia and have done so for various fandoms, including the alternate history setting Kaiserreich. So naturally, I was fascinated when I saw that Sand: Raiders of Sophie was based on a space-faring Austro-Hungarian Empire.

When I realised that it was not yet possible to paint your Trampler, I also realised that there was a chance to make cosmetics more interesting by basing certain colours and colour patterns with a theme, reflecting the broad history and the diverse regions/cultures of Austria-Hungary in a way that is already alluded to in the game's lore.

So to elaborate a little: What if cosmetic patterns were rare forms of loot, in specific 'Livery Boxes' found throughout the world, giving us more things to discover and salvage, or were attained based on very specific criteria?

For example, you may have a chance of finding a 'common' quality livery behind a red door, an 'uncommon' livery behind a key door, or the rare 'Kriegsmarine' livery as a low-chance spawn exclusively found on the Dreadnought. I also made a 'faction' livery, perhaps as a reward for reaching the research endgame of a specific faction, once their tech tree is completed by the devs. Extremely lucky raiders might find a beautiful, shiny legendary livery, clean from rust and a clear warning to all that you are either best avoided... or worth raiding for everything you're worth.

Do you chaps and ladies like the idea of history/culture-themed cosmetics being a part of the rewards and exploration? Or would you rather have the ability to paint and decorate your ships yourselves? Or would you do away with cosmetics altogether? I am curious for your opinion.
