i fell in love with a cat. i’m severely allergic

two weeks ago i found a feral kitten trapped outside at my work. i took it home and that night i went out and bought him toys, litter box, food, everything. i named him. i know im allergic to cats so i got him liveclear, the food that makes them less allergenic. i bought allergy meds and eye drops and clorox spray for allergens. i vacuum almost every day. i bought an air purifier. he sleeps in a different room when it gets too bad for me.

compared to how allergic i normally am, i’m doing pretty well. i don’t have hives unless he breaks my skin, my eyes rarely itch. but i have good days and bad days. and the bad days are getting harder to get through. i sneeze all evening. all morning. my throat itches when i’m home all the time. my athsma wakes me up at night even when i take my inhaler before bed.

i really thought all of this would be enough. maybe if i move out of my folks and get a bigger space for us. but i really thought it was enough. but im sitting here with a super swollen eye. my throat itches. and i’m thinking about any way to improve my allergies. i don’t think there’s any way left. but i couldn’t get rid of him. i have a friend that will take him but i can’t imagine life without him at this point. i’ve always wanted a cat. and i don’t wanna part with him now that i have one.
